It’s the weekend Peaches! What better way to sum up a hectic week than these delicious pieces from Emmy & Weekend Doll. Mixing colours is my favourite and with Britain having a mini heatwave, I am loving how summery and bright this outfit is.
My garden is my new favourite thing, although I must admit – my green fingers are only just beginning to sprout and I am no Charlie Dimmock. I recently purchased some solar fairy lights and a cute little metal watering can for my little bit of grassy heaven – I am in love! Now ask me next week when the heavens are opening every day and I might not be as optimistic, but for now – I am really enjoying writing, working and of course drinking cups of tea from my garden.
I was recently sent some pieces from Weekend Doll – a sassy brand who supply 40s & 50s vintage inspired clothes for those that are looking for something a little bit different. The first I wanted to share with you is this brightly coloured Friday On My Mind rainbow stripe cardigan.
‘The rainbow colours instantly bring out your inner sunshine and I definitely feel ready for the weekend wearing this cropped cardi ‘
Cardigans are a staple in my wardrobe (in my head that does sound a little grandma-like but what the heck) and I always have one in my bag to pop on for when it gets cooler. This cropped cardi from Weekend Doll really brightens the mood with its rainbow stripe and yellow buttons. Made from a soft cotton mix, there is plenty of stretch in it and it is really comfortable to wear.
I accessorised with a mouth enamel pin from CouCou Suzette which I think looks perfect against the colours. CouCou Suzette is a French company who make pop art inspired enamel pins, patches and jewellery. Their collection is really quirky and also has some cheeky kitsch pieces too. Made from high quality enamel & brass and with a butterfly hook backing.
How stunning is this Blue Phalaenopsis Orchid hair flower from Oh LaLa PinUp Hair?! The colour is so vibrant and it really is so “real to touch” as described – it looks just like a real orchid. Backed onto a comb, this piece is so easy to put in and out of a hairstyle, this is always really important to me because I like to play around with the position of flowers, clips, bows etc and some can really mess up your style. Oh LaLa PinUp Hair are offering my readers a fabulous 10% off (use code georgia10) they have so many styles and colours to choose from and come highly recommended. The colour is just so beautiful and against a darker brunette hair, it really makes a statement. This pretty little phalaenopsis came through the post in its own protective box which now has a permanent home in my collection! Visit them on Etsy here.
This pale lemon “fun & games& dress from Emmy is both sweet and a little bit sassy too. This is the second piece they sent me from their Spring/Summer 16 Collection (read about my review of their swing pants here) and it’s perfect for a hot summer day. Ordinarily, if I was rushing about, I would be tempted to swap my white Mary Jane heels for a comfy pair of converse and I think this dress would work really well dressed down just as much as it does dressed up. The back has “tie” straps and can either be worn tied at each shoulder or criss-crossed. The neckline has a little 1940s style sweetheart dip that is really flattering and the hem – oh the hem. I particularly love the white banding detail that slithers across the hem, it gives this a “Wimbledon / tennis ball girl” feel to the dress and swishes when you walk.
Emmy does it again when celebrating your curves, this dress has ample room for your bust, nips you in at the waist and then kick flares out at the hip. Their range is flirty yet feminine and really flattering for the most voluptuous of ladies. This dress also comes in a classic white, blue and red combo – perfect for the patriotic Brit!
