Dreamy Nautical Prints & Walks On The Canal c/o Wax Poetic Clothing // OOTD

UntitledEvening Peaches. I recently had the chance to have some time out away from work and visit my cousin and the lovely area that she lives in. Thankfully, the weather was glorious and I managed to get my pins out and wear this stunning nautical printed dress from Wax Poetic Clothing. How dreamy is the print though?

‘Entitled “Lost At Sea” – this gorgeous little number belongs on the open water’

Unfortunately, I don’t live any where near a beach so the only open water I have access to is that of the good old West Yorkshire canal. On a sunny day like this one, the water sparkles and these beautiful little water homes are simply picturesque. I imagine that today is a good day to live on the water and to bask on deck in the warm sunshine while watching the ducks swim past.

Wax Poetic Clothing is a fairly new company (formed in 2014) but have already come a long way in creating vintage inspired clothing with a pretty feminine fit. Made from 100% cotton, this Sherry dress (in Lost at Sea print) is so flattering on the waist and creates a “fit and flare” silhouette. The most stand out detail about this dress is obviously the print but the bow design at the back emits that something special – it really is a showstopper. The cut out triangle and red spotted bow makes sure that this beauty looks great from all angles. The red spot pattern is echoed at the waistband and provides that high quality finish to the dress.

I paired this with a bright red chiffon vintage headscarf that I picked up from a vintage market and some patent navy double T-bar pumps from eBay. I love the rockabilly edge that this outfit has and if I were to go dancing, this would be ideal to jive the night away in.

One thing that I also particularly like is the length. With this style of dresses, they often fall below the knee (to allow for a petticoat underneath) but this just sits nicely above the knee. It is fun and playful yet still ladylike and perfect for daytime wear with some pumps or for a night on the town with a pair of heels! Of course – every girls best friend POCKETS. You know that glorious moment when you just need to pop your phone and spare change away and you put your hands down by your side and realise your dress has hidden pockets. Game changer. Yep this dress even has pockets. What more could you want?

In other news: I ordered a new book today – “They fought in the fields” after seeing it come up on my Instagram feed. It is about Land Girls from back in the day and I cannot wait for it to arrive. My Grandma Monica worked in the fields catching rats and I am so looking forward to having a read and learning more about the tough times that they had in that era. If you have any book suggestions – please get in touch, I would love to be inspired!
