Be YOUrself // Grey Check Swing Pants c/o Emmy, Blue Bardot Top & Blue Sun Jellies | OOTD

UntitledToday’s post is from an outing that my family and I took at the weekend. The weather forecast never works with my own personal wardrobe choices – if I decide I want to wear a pretty dress and sandals – it normally snows. If I put on some trousers and a blazer, it turns into the hottest day of the year.

Braving it, I put on these grey weave swing trousers c/o Emmy, my favourite blue bardot top, these comfy royal blue Sun Jellies sandals and I was ready to go. Emmy is a Swedish brand that strive to embrace and enhance femininity and cater for curvaceous ladies.

‘So today, I am celebrating both’

These super high waisted “slacks” (or trousers to us Brits) are part of Emmy’s Spring/Summer 16′ range and at first I was quite skeptical that they should be in such a collection. Surely swing trousers are for cooler months with polo’s and sweaters? I chose this piece to review for Emmy for that very reason. I wanted to be absolutely sure that they really were as versatile as they claim. Sure enough, wearing them in a 20 degree heat was a doddle (20 degrees for us is actually summer here in England!) and even if we only get 1.5 days of decent summer heat here, they are so comfortable to wear. They are available in a thicker fabric for the cooler months as well and it is very clear to see why they are a number 1 best seller in the winter.

Now I am normally a fan of high waisted pieces, especially when you have curves. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try something new to embrace my shape, the high waist on these goes all the way to just under the bust. You can also purchase suspender braces to attach onto the buttons of this pair of trousers. The day I wore these, I had about five people comment on how different and how flattering they were. The one thing that these trousers do is absolutely hug my curves – something I would have ordinarily been afraid of.

My husband took these shots of me and when I looked through them I was really unsure about what to think. He basically had a word with my inner cake lover and told me that I was fabulous. I shared this picture on my social media over the weekend and honestly the reaction blew me away. Since having my little girl four months ago, I have had to learn how to love my body all over again (it is somewhat a different shape nowadays) and embrace what my own mamma gave me. Beauty is more than just what’s on the outside and seeing these shots made me realise that more than ever.

I realised that being comfortable in my own skin is amongst the biggest lessons that I can teach my daughter. The world is a cruel place and often speaks first and thinks later. It is so important to me to let my little girl know that she is beautiful inside and out and to love the skin she is in when she is older. I want her to know that being different from the crowd is actually okay and that diversity is glorious and something to be celebrated. Be YOUrself – BeYOUtiful.
