30475814994_3f9849a265_kHot chocolate, winter jumpers, fluffy socks and the beginning of the party season – if you are anything like me; you will welcome winter with open arms. A bit of hibernation never hurt anyone right? When the leaves that fell are all wet and soggy with winter rain, the frost suddenly greets you in a morning and you find yourself with a constant sniffle, it appears that winter is firmly planted and here to stay. But you don’t have to be caught panicking for your harsh weather thermals just yet!

So many of my close friends begin to feel the effects of the change of the seasons around this time of the year. I like to be as prepared as I can for each season so that I can get as much out of life as I possibly can. This time of the year seems like it is a long time coming when you are in summer but honestly as soon as the nights get darker earlier and the cold hits you, it just seems to fly by so fast. Performing, booking in events and trying to cram everything else in means that time slips through my fingers and before I know it, I find myself reposting those “Only 4 Mondays until Christmas” quotes on Instagram. This is how I get best prepped for the winter season and get stuck in……

Untitled With the end of the year looming ahead, todays festive inspired outfit comes with some summer pieces, reclaimed for a few more months wear. Having a seasonal wardrobe clear out is something I battle with twice a year – do I throw out that super cute halter neck that I got in the sale for a bargain £3 (that still has it’s tags on by the way) or does it belong in the “for sale on ebay” pile! Most of all I have those fond summer memories that I just want to hold onto for a few more weeks before packing them away until next year.

Untitled For quite some years, I struggled with poor eyesight and far too much pride to do anything about it. Anxious of name-calling and embarrassment, I would screw my eyes up and squint into the distance. Roughly five years ago, my then fiancé encouraged me to purchase some glasses, so scrawling through various designs I decided to take the plunge. Now I always believe that if you are going to do something, you should do it with your whole self and never hold back. With this in mind, I chose some baby pink frames and waited nervously for them to arrive. They were fabulous. They gave me the confidence to stand out and being able to see clearly again made me want to wear them all the time. Fast-forward to the present day and I now wear glasses as soon as I roll out of bed!

Untitled Hello Peaches! Thanks to the wonders of Facebook where I met my beautiful buddy Amber Rose, today’s post comes as something new to the blog – a joint collaboration!

When I fell pregnant in the summer of 2015, I was searching for a mum/baby group on social media that I could join in with and basically get some advice as to how I was going to survive the future responsibilities of parenthood that were looming ahead! Unbeknown to me, Amber was also due a little one in January 2016 and had set up a fabulous network of ladies that were either pregnant or had children already. Joining such a fabulous group of ladies helped me share my pregnancy journey privately and iron out any anxieties that I may have had. With Amber having her little girl in January and myself becoming a mum in March, it seemed only natural that we should share sleepless nights, new mum worries and helpful suggestions with each other. After hours and hours of WhatsApp voice notes, chatting about mum life, and sixties love, I invited Amber to join us on the set of The Northernettes second music video as a sassy sixties extra down in Brighton! This pretty much sealed the deal and we have chatted every day since!

Untitled ‘Ding-dong the witch is dead, the wicked witch is deaaaad.’ Okay perhaps not quite Dorothy and somewhere over the rainbow, but this look reminds me of the wicked witch of the west. I am feeling this “army green” vintage pencil skirt with every sip of witchy brew I take (too many puns already – okay enough.) There is just something about a purple and green combination that reminds me of the spookiest time of the year and if you are ever without a Halloween outfit – this is a brilliant basic to start from. I added a “witch on a broom” pin to this outfit, which comes c/o “Pin Club” – you can read about them here. For a small monthly subscription, you can receive a brand new pin in the post every single month. Octobers pin is this wicked witch of the west flying through the midnight sky on her wooden broomstick. If you want to be ghostly but gorgeous – its little details like this sweet pin that makes all the difference.

Untitled Ah Halloween. Once this spooky time of year comes around, I know that can only mean one thing – Christmas. Yes I said it, I went there. But it is The Most Wonderful Time of The Year. Each year, there are zombies, pumpkins, witches and mummies roaming about scaring people at house parties and nightclubs. Without wanting to be a carbon copy from all the rest of us who have “raided the pound shop” at the last minute – how DO you dress for Halloween but still maintain your own retro / vintage inspired style?

All this week on my blog I have some ghoulish get-ups that will help you get in the scary spirit but those that you can actually wear to work without fear of getting fired. Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity, life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. It is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. It is a strange but fascinating fixation that most of us have with dressing up creepily. There are a small handful of us that absolutely go all out each year and look like we belong in another world (perhaps the Underworld) and then we have the cutie patoooootie Halloweeners that consider “a nurses outfit with blood on” a spine tingly terrifying ensemble. However you like to celebrate – stay tuned to my blog for outfits, ideas and inspiration all this week!
