Well it is almost the end of 2016 and what better way to see it out than in a glamorous dress and a good old recap of the most amazing year to date……. View Post
A few weeks back I had the pleasure of performing at Atomic Amber’s event – “I’m Dreaming Of A Tiki Christmas” in London’s Tiki Paradise – Kanaloa Club. Meeting so many lovely ladies (and gents!) from the vintage loving community and having a good old jive was totally fabulous and I cannot wait for the summer “Picnic In The Park” event already!
With singing and performing as my true loves, Christmas time can often be spent from venue to venue and I usually miss out on the traditional “office party” being self employed. However, being able to attend this event was like my own private Christmas do with many dazzling and glamorous people dancing their socks off! It didn’t really feel like I was performing either, more like just having a good little boogie with my besties. Although I had travelled from up north, it never really feels like work when you are twirling about dressed up in pretties and enjoying your favourite music hey!
For those of you who regularly follow my blog, you will know that I have recently started writing for the ever-fabulous Vintage Life Magazine. Yep, a published writer – not just a blogger who rambles a few times a week about all sorts. My first ever shiney article was published in the November episode of Vintage Life Mag – Issue number 71 – (back issues are available here)
I wrote about bringing a bit of “Joy To Your World” – a subject close to my own heart. This time of the year can be oh so stressful and it creeps up on you without you even realising. There are so many presents to buy and so many people to try and organise visiting to, tinsel to put up and parties to fit in. Before you know it, you find yourself wishing that the silly season is over for another year, and nobody should get to this point. Christmas time for me means relaxing with those that you love and enjoying the time off that you have together. Life is too precious to waste it being in a tizzwhoz.
Always one to open a new post with a song – the above comes from the fabulous Elkie Brooks and just so happens to be the name of this Christmas beauty from Voodoo Vixen. As precious as a pearl, wearing this makes me feel like Christmas is literally around the corner. Are you ready? – I’ve been ready since August!
Getting prepped for the festive season is something I like to do early. Yep, I am one of those eager beavers who is all bought and wrapped up by the end of September, sorry! Being a performer, Christmas is my busiest time so if I didn’t get everything ready right as people are just about packing their bikinis away, I would blink and Christmas would be over. This year, it is my little girls first Christmas and although she will only be 9 months and perhaps a little young to understand, I wanted to go all out and celebrate. Everything is sparkly, my tree has been up since the middle of November and we are all just waiting for Santa now!
Hot chocolate, winter jumpers, fluffy socks and the beginning of the party season – if you are anything like me; you will welcome winter with open arms. A bit of hibernation never hurt anyone right? When the leaves that fell are all wet and soggy with winter rain, the frost suddenly greets you in a morning and you find yourself with a constant sniffle, it appears that winter is firmly planted and here to stay. But you don’t have to be caught panicking for your harsh weather thermals just yet!
So many of my close friends begin to feel the effects of the change of the seasons around this time of the year. I like to be as prepared as I can for each season so that I can get as much out of life as I possibly can. This time of the year seems like it is a long time coming when you are in summer but honestly as soon as the nights get darker earlier and the cold hits you, it just seems to fly by so fast. Performing, booking in events and trying to cram everything else in means that time slips through my fingers and before I know it, I find myself reposting those “Only 4 Mondays until Christmas” quotes on Instagram. This is how I get best prepped for the winter season and get stuck in……
